Over the last six weeks Matt and I have been taking a family history class during Sunday school. It has been very fun learning about the lives of our ancestors. I have been very interested to know when they became U.S. citizens and how they got here, how they became members of our church, and when and where they settled in Utah. In some instances, we have been able to read experiences that our ancestors had with prominent leaders of the early church. It has not only made me interested in my ancestor's lives, but in our church's history and the lives of the early saints. I have been on many "treks" in my youth and have enjoyed learning pioneer stories, but at times it seems like 1842 and 1100 were both very long ago. After realizing that my grandparents' grandparents were alive during Joseph Smith's time I realize how amazing it is that our church has over 12 million members, 123 working temples, and over 50, 000 missionaries.
